Tenderness is not an often sought after virtue. In fact, the dictionary defines it in terms of weakness. Actually, godly tenderness is strength at its fullest. When seen and experienced, tenderness is rarely interpreted in negative terms.

Yet words do not do justice explaining what tenderness is. Only a verse like Isaiah 40:11 can give a true picture, He tends his flock like a shepherd.

He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

When I have experienced the tenderness of others, I have been richly blessed. It seems to me that divine gentleness coupled with humility yields tenderness. How I long to share this gift with others, but I am not so proficient.

Will you join me this week in sincerely practicing this amazing virtue?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
