"Praise God from whom all blessings flow" – Singing the doxology in church as a young boy, I imagined that "all blessings" encompassed only good events, victories and successes. As a man, however, I have slowly come to understand that blessings are also realized in difficult circumstances.
The lessons learned in difficult times can often be rich and deep. These rich and deep lessons – blessings – are usually not realized until we are stationed in a place to look back upon them. Then we see the blessings – usually issues of the heart – issues of faith and family.
Abram was just like us. After asking Abram to leave the familiar, his extended family and country, God says, "…I will bless you…" Yes, even in the challenge of uncertainty and a monumentally difficult journey, Abram was blessed.
This week, as challenges arise and we work to resolve the issues at hand, may we not miss the opportunity to find the richness of God's blessings.
"Praise God from whom ALL BLESSINGS flow…"
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
Sharing the journey with you,
