Living in Philadelphia has filled me full of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team, especially since the "fightin' Phils" won the World Series last October. When bumped, I am likely to spill over in exuberance about the possibilities of one more championship.

Living in the United States in the year before and the year following a presidential election, I am filled full of politics. So when bumped I am likely to spill over in vitriolic opinion about the state of politics in America and the state of the economy or my thoughts on healthcare reform.

Living in the Kingdom of God is true fulfillment. When I live there I am filled full of the grace and truth of Jesus and His Word. When filled with Jesus and bumped by the troubles of this world or the unkindness of people, God's Spirit enables me to spill over in.

“love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22,23 NIV)

However, I have found an interesting dilemma. I am a broken vessel, always spilling over with something. I need to stay under the faucet of Jesus and His Word in order to remain filled with His grace and truth.

Join me this week in staying "filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God". (Philippians 1:11 NIV)

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
