He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. I Peter 2:21b NLT
What in the world was Peter thinking when he suggested that I should follow Christ’s example for living…following in His footsteps? Anyone who knows me well, knows how far short of Jesus’ example I am. I long to be like Him but His footsteps seem so big.
The Psalmist encourages me when he says in Psalm 18:36 that God will enlarge the path for my footsteps and keep me from slipping. This in turn allows me to enlarge my capacity to follow in Jesus’ footsteps.
Thank you, Jesus, for your Holy Spirit who provides me with the strength and ability to do what I cannot do on my own…follow in your footsteps.
