Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God's place in your hearts. 1 John 5:21 NLT
I thought that the maturing process as a child involved moving from dependence on my parents to personal independence, but I have come to realize that godly maturity involves growing in my child-like dependence on God. This means not allowing ANYTHING to take God's place in my heart.
God's place in my heart requires:
- Loving what my Father loves
- Listening to the desires of my Father's heart
- Doing what my Father wants me to do
