Early in the morning, my computer beckons – SEND/RECEIVE. As I seek to start my day with a good physical workout and quiet moments with God my computer seems to call even more loudly SEND & RECEIVE. The struggle begins. Who will win? My computer or me? A rather trite example of bondage? Perhaps.

As I walk through my day I often let bondage tie its ropes around me. For instance, I want the freedom to enjoy healthy relationships. Yet in the midst of quiet conversation with those I love, selfish, all-knowing voices begin to scream. The struggle against the often-ensuing conflict begins. Who will win? An old voice or habit, or a gentle spirit?

The Apostle Paul was describing ME when he wrote to the Galatians, "For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want." (Galatians 5:17)

Although we will never be free of sin this side of heaven, we can seek to live a life of freedom in Christ – empowered to overcome our sin. We do not have to believe the lies of bondage.

The words of Jesus Christ to believers:

"If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32 NIV)

We have been set free! Will you join me in choosing freedom instead of indulging in bondage?

Sharing the journey with you,
