Wrestling with a bar of hotel soap inside an unusually sturdy plastic wrapper ended in me losing! For three consecutive days, I tore at the wrapper unable to open it. Each time the result was the same – soap and wrapper destroyed. Finally, I put on my glasses and carefully examined the wrapper. I found a small slit with the word "open."
Unread cell phone, digital camera and computer instructions litter my office drawers. Too busy and too impatient, I fumble through my life teetering just on the edge of mastering the technology. And when I have finally mastered it, the technology is out of date!
At times my spiritual life evidences this same tendency – ignoring instructions. Instead of sitting in my drawers, these instructions are within the covers of my Bible. I would benefit from reading the instructions. For instance, when I am:
- Angry… Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret – it only leads to evil (Psalm 37:8).
- Filled With Revenge… Love … keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5).
- Arrogant… For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?(1 Corinthians 4:7).
- Discouraging Others… Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.. (1 Thessalonians 5:1).
So many good instructions; if I not only read them, but applied them, life would be different. Will you join me in taking the instructions seriously?
