I am a results oriented guy! Give me a goal or challenge me to do something and I will respond. Pursuing results is often exciting but can at times mislead me.

William Bruce Cameron in his 1963 text “Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking” suggests,

“Not everything that can be counted counts.  Not everything that counts can be counted.”

Often the accomplishments recounted on my resume do not reflect what is most important to me. By excluding them, I may be suggesting that my spiritual life, my family and my interests are of little importance – not true. In fact, in the end, only the things that matter to God should matter to me.

Results do matter. The wise one said,

The end of a matter is better than its beginning…(Ecclesiastes 7:8 NIV)

Results can be deceptive.  Unless the results I relentlessly pursue are for God’s purposes and His glory, I labor in vain.

Join me in making sure we are pursuing the right results.
