The unseen world revealed by way of a microscope stimulated my interest in science. More than I could ever have imagined was made visible to me by this fabulous instrument. In ancient times before this invisible world was revealed by the microscope, misunderstandings abounded about the "visible world" – for instance misinterpretations about the causes of infectious diseases.
In much the same way, my misinterpretations about the cause and effects related to the circumstances and events in my life abound. My wrong impressions often stem from my lack of sight related to the invisible spiritual world around me. I would do well to heed the advice of the Apostle Paul,
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
Taking time aided by God's Spirit to fix my eyes on what is not seen is critical to my understanding of life. Join me this week in taking time to gaze into this unseen world.
