I used to make New Year’s resolutions, but I found that by mid-January I would be wallowing in failure. Positive change is good, but so very difficult. I have come to realize that striving for change in my own strength is futile.

This year I made no resolutions. Instead, I am choosing to look toward the Lord in seeking His strength, not mine. I am choosing to trust God in 2018 and stand on His promises.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Instead of making resolutions this year, I am choosing to stand on the promises of God made possible by the work of the Holy Spirit in me and His mercy toward me.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call

Resting in my Savior as my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God.

(Standing on the Promises by R. Kelso Carter)

Will you join me in standing on the promises of God in 2018?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
