How I view myself – my identity – is shaped by my early childhood development, education, vocational life, family, church and ministry. Blessing and heartbreak in each of these areas are intertwined with my identity. All have played significant roles in answering:
  • Who am I?
  • What am I?
However, Christ offers me a new identity.
  • A new position as His son
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 John 3:1)
  • An assurance in this new position
Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)
When I forget my identity in Christ and choose a lesser identity, I experience conflict and misery in my heart. Why would I seek my identity anywhere else but in Christ alone?
Will you join me in remembering we are His and He is ours?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
