I used to think that love was a "balance between grace and truth" – as if they could be separated. Sometimes, I communicate with EITHER grace OR truth, but not both. The result is a relationship built upon harshness, hurt, and harm, rather than Christ-like love. Jesus evidenced both grace and truth in every loving encounter.
Remember Jesus' words to the woman caught in adultery? He neither condemned nor condoned.
And Jesus said, "neither do I [condemn you]. Go and sin no more." John 8:11 ESV
Jesus offers His grace in forgiveness and His truth in simple statements derived from His character.
